Biography

"At the heart of my commitment lies the conviction that for every problem there is a fair and just response, that social justice and environmental justice are inseparable, that their achievement requires the active participation of the greatest number of people and the development of all forms of solidarity. Institutional or spontaneous solidarity, today and tomorrow, here and elsewhere. I am convinced of the need for a whole of government approach. The major issues of our social organisation only make sense when considered as a whole and in their interactions, and I intend to reconcile the social, the economic and the environmental rather than to oppose them.
